Dance Injury Prevention Assessment Program
By Dr. Kintaro Oku, DC on Nov 14, 2007 in Dance Biomechanics
Dr. Kintaro Oku offers a Dance Injury Prevention Assessment Program providing dancers, entertainers, and performers a chance to investigate their health complaints and concerns in a one-on-one manner, either on-site or off-site. A thorough evaluation will open the way to becoming a much improved and healthier dancer. Based on standard rehabilitation and injury prevention protocols, the physical assessment will determine into which category the dancer belongs and consequently which corrective rehabilitative learning protocol they should follow.
- A Postural Evaluation will uncover common postural deviation patterns. These deviations often cause undue mechanical stress on the body and tend to undermine core strength.
- A Movement Pattern Analysis will muscular dysfunction.
- A Range of Motion (ROM) Evaluation will demonstrate how physical restrictions lead to dysfunctional movement patterns.
- Manual Muscle Testing – Any significant difference in strength between limbs are a sign of current or prior injury.
- Joint restrictions will also be assessed and restored to regain mobility in the joints.
I will work with your stage, production managers, and primary care physician in order to get you back to work faster. My goal is to get your body functioning at its highest potential and to prevent injuries from reoccurring.
